    HI GUYS,
    new to this forum....
Does anyone know if the even fire crank can be swapped into the odd fire 225 nailhead. v6. I know that other components will have to swap to make it work, like dist., cam, etc, but I would like to have an even fire for a project I have in mind

Why? Oddfire crank is stronger and the cost would be alot more than a simple rebuild. :?

Swap with someone that already has an EF setup - I know folks that would prefer the OF and have EF stuff.

ya, and im one of them got a 78 231 even fire swaped into my 68 c101. Parts are ez to find but i wish i had the 225 OF back. Seemed to have lots more power. way more bottom end, at least thats what i think. i would stick with the OF. know you didnt ask me but the OF sounds way better and runs better. only way i would swap it out again would be if i had a 4.1 to drop in.

If I am getting it right.
the thing with the 231 is it has bigger displacement but lower compresion than the 225.
And being oddfire helps with the lowend torque.

I would have to go search but it seems like I remember that the EF crank wouldnt fit in the oddfire block have to go look around, but that seems right.

If you really need a EF there are tons of them to be had.
Cheaper than swapping a bunch of parts in the long run anyway.

You might consider purchasing Pat Ganahl's V-6 Power Secrets book. I don't have the isbn # here but there's tons of info on the Buick V-6's in that book, including even and odd fire variations.

IIRC Pat says this is possible, but as you noted, you'll need to swap most of the other internal parts as well.
