    I was thinknig bout it, i need to reseal the Dana 18. i was going to order the double lipped seals and the regualr seal kit comes with felt seals and the single lip oil seals. I am thinknig i can get away with just RTVing the mating surfaces and then using teh double lipped seals and be done with it. i may just get the thick felt seals for the yokes, but my small oil seals for the shifter rods are in good shape. What do you guys think?? do i absolutely need the paper gaskets between the parts of the dana 18??

    hi dan;

    " IMHO" i sealed my t-case with rtv only in lue of paper gaskets. as well as the trany and od. i like it over the paper. only thing to be aware of is the end play on the output shaft without the paper. make sure and rtv the bolt threads also. last but not least i like the idea of having the felt o-ring there to keep out as much junk as possible from the seal area............good luck

    Dan, I just had some horrible leaks in my t/case, which I just rebuilt. One of the causes of the leak was the felt seal on the yoke rubbed against the rubber seal and some felt got under the rubber lip. It dripped every 12 seconds at rest! Also, the pan bolts were loose so they got loctite on re-assembly.

    Before the rubber seal how, on the inside of the t/case or between the felt and rubber seal?
