Are there any columns out there that will swap with the CJ5? I have a 1976 CJ5 without a tilt and would like to put in a tilt wheel. Does anyone know of any straight swaps? Thanks for the info.

I'd think a tilt column from a late CJ 5 or 7 would be the most straight forward. It's basically a GM column, so one from a GM into the late '80's would work as well...

    bilzcj5,
I have a 76 as well and I (ok, really my buddy did the work, I just made sure his beer was full) put a column in from a similar year Cadillac. It was a direct bolt in...no cutting or fitting. Plus the Caddy icon gives the old Jeep a touch of class the old bus wheel can't touch. I am not not home so I cant post pics, but I have posted them here before. Do a search and they should pop up here.

Most gm tilt columns will bolt up from mid 70's through mid 80's. For the most part there are two lengths 31" and 33" of the top of my head..... I think the 31" is the more common and the one you want. I got mine out of a 78 camaro. Just do your self a favor and get one out of a floor shift.... looks so tacky with a collum shift hacked off
