I did a search but did not find the topic. I have a plain old red 67 with the v6 and am slowly bringing it up to speed with upgrades. I really like the Renegade I and II stripe patterns but think it may be against the jeep gods to put them on. I respect the 800 or so originals out there and do not want to have a fake one. I have only ever seen 3 real ones on the road. On the flip side I don't really like the custom one off patterns. What do others thik on this toipic and what other hood stripes have been custom done that look original??
I know it is a silly question but I think about it. I have seen a off set black strip on a flat fender that looked very good that ran down the hood.

Go for it. It's your Jeep, enjoy it how you like it! :)

Believe it or not there's quite a few more than just three around here.

If you like the stripes, I say go ahead. It's your Jeep... As long as you aren't trying to pass it off as an actual Renegade, I'd say it's ok.

Like everyone's said, it's your Jeep and up to you what you want to do to it.

The part's book also listed a plain stripe, and I've seen some marketing material with the plain stripe. That might be another option if you want.

Personally, I'm kind of fond of these ('73 Renegade)

I say go for it. Lots of folks have bought what they thought was a renegade, maybe the opposite could happen. With all the improvising, adapting, and overcoming that happens in the jeep world, your jeep might really have been BORN as a renegade!

Stranger things have happened in the jeep world.
That's the way I'd look at it, anyway. R)

Great feedback. Thank you. I like the idea of the origianl Renegade stripe but plain... with or w/o the center stripe. The 73 is very cool. They are all cool up through about 75. I think the accent really makes the look. On my jeep it might smooth out some of the dents from years of trail rides.

I say go for it. Of course I like the strips, but then I am a little prejudice :)
Remember other then the guys here and a few others, most of the people out there have no idea what a RI or RII even is. Plus I always thought the other things on a RII is what made it one (no tail gate, etc) not the strips. When my kids were small, they always said the strips made it look like daddy had a really speedy car :)

WYOMIKE, Thanks for posting. I like the picture of your water crossing and the RII's are a great combination of parts and badging. It is great you bought it new. My jeep came from my dad who bought it new in 67. We all learned to drive on it and it has been well used. I am fixing it up and he can use it any time he wants. In my area I have only seen a few Renegades. It looks like there is striping in both white and black. I have only seen black. What colors did white go with?

White stripes went on the purple Renegades (I think that's the only ones I've seen white on). I have a set of NOS white Renegade I stripes. In looking at the pictures on Golden Eagle Decals website, I'm not sure they preproduced the decals correctly. In their pictures the decals don't appear to follow the curve of the hood correctly. The decals are supposed to have a curve to them, maybe they made them straight???

    Sorry Dave

I think it'd look cool. Heck, I even like the Golden Chicken decal on the laterer cj's. Do it.

But take picts. I think a detailed, how to put on the stickers would be a good tech idea. I have no idea how to get them on and get them to look good.

    I'd like to see it.

Like WYOMIKE said, many Jeep owners aren't familiar with the RI & RII packages. When I found my RII in a little Colorado town over 2 years ago, I had never heard of the RII. I have owned many CJs thru the years and thought I was very familiar with them. Anyway, the stripes really set off the appearance so by all means add those stripes, but do the before and after pics, too.
