About ten years ago or so I went looking for a snowblower to do my driveway. It seems my house always gets the most snow no matter what the wind direction just kills me evertime. I found a "55 jeep tractor" with a 4 way snowplow and a boom crane on the back for $400 and she ran. I plowed snow with this for many years its a running frame with a seat, cowl and hood with a 4way plow. Since i was into jeeps before luckily when this frame rusted out after many years of snowplowing i had a 73 cj5 v8 frame in new condition. I first boxed the new frame with 3/8" plate and the plow frame underneat is 4x4x3/8" thick angle. I also fabricated a 2 1/2 army truck scaled down front bumper using ship & Car channel.(heavy/thick)I also added two loc rites to the diff's so its unstoppable now.

I been on the fence now to buy a new steel body and put it back on the road. I plan to add 4 disc brakes and the floating rear axle setup too. I was hoping to find a 4speed tranny and the willys truck transfer case with the 3:1 low ratio. With the orginal 5:38's and lockers it would be a stump puller for sure i'd have the best of the best gear ratio wise.

I'm not sure wether to leave my jeep a tractor or put it back on the road to go snowplowing with it. With all the added steel its an animal pushing dirt or snow.

I have a new TJ ('99) with all the options like dana 44 rear with posi, hd suspension and the automatic tranny with no overdrive. I had to order this wrangler. But i like the 4 older 4 banger better. When i oredered the new 99 wrangler i figured its a future project. By just adding a locker to the front and suspension/tires i'd have a decent TJ.

The last jeep i built was an 80 cj7 with the v8 4speed with posi f&r with 4:27 gears and a dana 44 rear. Stupid me i sold it because of the bad frame even though it was repaired. With it having all the goodies I should of restored it.

When i was working for AMC as a mechanic and we took in the jeep line I got to change out an engine on a CJ3B and when i drove it out of the garage my love affair with jeeps began......R)

One question is were do i find some of the used parts?
