Wiring Harness

Greetings and Salutations everyone!

Please forgive me for asking something that has been asked before, I have seen one thread on this topic, but did not want to resurrect a topic that was over 2 years old.

I have just recently purchased a 61 Willys, and would like to re-wire the whole thing. After reading through the aforementioned thread, I have narrowed my choices down to ez2wire or ez wire, but do not know where to go from there. Would I need just a mini 12 from ezwiring, or the 8 circuit universal from ez2wire?

Please forgive me, this will be my first jeep, and my first semi-restore project, and this was the first forum I came across that fit my needs!

I used the Centech 16 and it had more than I needed. But I figured too many was better than not enough. But I did some creative things like putting my radio, XM, and CB all on a switch independant from the ignition. I was very happy with the kit and as I recall it was less money than many of the competitors. Feel free to PM l me with any questions.

 

I have used EZwire twice now, I went with the larger ckt kit and tucked all the extra stuff up under neath the dash, that way if I ever needed another ckt for anything I was already pre wired and ready to go....

 

Thank you everyone for your responses, I think I am going to go with the 12 Standard from EZWiring and pray for the best! This will be my first venture into this kind of project, but my dad did electrical on airplanes for 20 years in the air force, so he has a good idea of what we are getting into. Hopefully I can order this by monday or tuesday and get started soon, winter is going to be cold without getting something going here...

I also used the EZwire mini 12 and it was a great kit. They are very helpful when you call the tech line. I started out by leaving the old wires intact and running the new next to the old. After getting more comfortable with the install I just removed everything except the column wires. It worked out very good!

 

Question on the mini 12, does it have the mini fuses or the mini low profile fuses? I did some searching on the net for the difference between a standard and a mini and the mini low profile look like they would be a royal pain to change. If they are the minis, that would not be so bad.

 

I believe the one I got was mini's. I know EZ wire also offers standard flat fuses. One thing I would probably do different is mount the fuse box under the hood instead of under the dash......much easier to access.

 

YUP!! I mounted it in a water proof box on the fender well on the last one I did, much much better
