I have coolant pooling up around the top of the timing chain cover on my 401. I cant locate where it's coming from. My guess would be the timimg chain cover gasket or intake manifold. Does this sound right? before I pull the whole front half of the engine apart.

what about your thermostat housing gasket? If its pooling on top of the timing cover I'd have a hard time blaming the cover itself.

After closer inspection, I noticed it was coming from the front intake manifold bolt and where the manifold meets the block just behind the distributor. I tightend the bolt and this seems to solve the problem for now. This thing has an aluminum intake on it and I suspect the bolts probabley were not torqued properley.

You should have thread sealant on the bolts that enter the water jacket.
