My Fuel gauge does not work in 66 cj5. I have taken the seat off to get to the top of the gas tank to look at the sending unit. There is one wire for the ground and one wire that goes to the Gauge. Is there any way of checking to see if the Unit is bad? It is not the original tank, someone replaced it with a Plastic Tank. Where would i go about finding a new unit if need be and how do i make sure i get the right one. Thanks for the help guys

Check the Ohms with a mulltimeter. Move the float up and down.

The Ohm readings are posted here in the forum in the past.

You could check the gauge by just grounding the sending unit wire. If working the gauge niddle will go to full.
