my CJ5 came with a crappy stock roll bar just barely bolted to the 'glass tub and that just wouldnt do.. i've been designing this in my head for 2 years and i finally got around to starting it last month.. it's 95% constructed, but still only tacked in place. still need to add a few grab handles and a bunch of 1/4" plate gusstes. it's gotta come out next week and finish burning it in.
it's a mix of 1.75" DOM and HREW. i mounted it on 3/16" plate on top of the rear wheel tubs because the low quality 'glass tub just wont take the stress so i over-built a little but i like how it came out. not alot of headroom in the rear but theres only gonna be 1 kid at a time back there so they just gotta watch their head. it's gonna be silver hammer-tone powdercoated this winter so it looks good and never needs touching up.

    here's what i gots....

thanks guys!! it's my first solo cage that was my brain-child, i did it all except the bending.. i've assisted with alot of cages that were somebody elses project. i'm not much of a welder so i'l probably do the minority of the burning.. my cage that i envision as "show quality" isnt the place i want to learn the fine art of burning..

    Nice!
I like how you handled the bars for your harness attachments.

That's nice looking cage. Ideally I'd want those center head knockers to be at more of an angle for strength but then they would be even better at head knocking. Good compromise there. Does it tie in with the frame? Are the seats attached to the cage or the body?

the harness bars are plated to the floor and the plates under the tub are tied together. the cage will be tied to the frame at 67 points after i get the 1" body lift in. the head-knockers are definately a compromise, and are high enough that i dont hit my head.. i'm 6'1"... the rear hoop is definately a head-knocker.. i guess my kids have to be careful huh? the Pontiac Firebird front seats are mounted on stock frames for now but the door bars are set so i can make a seat frame that ties into the harness bars in the future.

Looks nice! I like the simple yet effectiveness of your design. My Tux didn't even come with a rollbar, I will be doing this later on in my build.

thanks again.. yeah i guess 67 is a bit over-kill huh? maybe i'll just do 6 for now. next year i may go thru the firewall to tie into some kind of radiator hoop under the hood. we'll see how fancy i feel like getting.
