Does anyone out there have, or know where i can get a "prestolite" starter for my 1970 v-6. I had the original one from the vehicle, i left it in back of truck over night and someone swipped it! Auto part stores can't find me one, all they can come up with is a "Delco" starter. If I halft to use the "Delco" type, what hast to be done to make it work?

You could place a WTB ad in our classifieds

I had to get a new starter for my 1970 v6, the type listed in the auto stores for the 70 were the wrong type, but I asked for one for a 69 and it was the right type, go figure

I tried going up 1 year and down 1, no luck. I finally found a part # thru Nappa auto parts, but they dont have 1 in their entire chain. I found 1 thru the classifieds here.
    I can't believe that a parts store can't find 1!

I had a prestolite starter in my jeep when I got it, and the gear teeth were ground down so while I was installing the new tranny I installed a delco. My Napa could have gotten me a prestolite starter but it was over $200 vs under $40. it was an easy decision on my wallet. Delco goes in the same.:v6:
