im trying to mount the rebuilt f-head andseem to be running into an issue. the engine mounts on the frame dont want to mount up to the engine. the bolts on the frame mounts seem to have sunk down-ward about an half inch so the bolts wont go through the holes.

has anyone else run into this? is it possible the frame has bowed inward over the months the engine has not been putting outward pressure/weight against the frame? the trans-case cross-member bolts in easily so i wouldnt think anything would have happened to the frame. do i just need to pry the frame mounts into position while the holes are lined up?

    thanks

On the rubber blocks, they have an elongated hole, you may be able to loosen them up and slide them up. The exact things happened to me.

I had to attach my engine mounts to my engine (loosely) first and then line up with the holes. It was much easier that way.;)

When I put new motor mounts in my 55 CJ I ran into a similar condition, I noticed that the replacement mounts did not look as tall as the originals looked like they would have been when they were new ( taking age and compression into account ) I made two rectangular metal shims 1/4 inch thick the same size as the motor mount with a notch in each end to clear the two bolts.
With these under the new motor mounts everything lined up and went togeather good with no sideways shearing force on the vulcanized mount, The weight of the engine was straight down on the mount.

I had a similar problem a couple of months ago and posted in the early CJ5 section:

    http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54773

I finally used the ratchet strap suggestion to line the braclket and the mount up and it worked like a charm. IIRC I was only off by about 1/2 the width of the bolt.

It just hit me that you said the mounts seem to close together.................sounds like the opposite of my condition, Shims would make your condition worse if I understand you correctly now.........oops.......sorry about that, Should have paid better attention when reading your post.
