I have look through the old forums and found on getting a good idea on what my ratios is in my jeep. So I jack up my jeep and turned the tire and the axle made two complete revolutions before tire made one. Does that mean that I have a 2.73 gear ratio? or did i do something wrong? I have a 67 Cj5, but am finding aout that it is made up of several different years....Thanks for your time and help. One more not both front and rear turned the same...

Did both wheels turn? You have to add the turns of both tires to count the gear ratio - the input is divided between the outputs. So, if one wheel turns one turn and the other turns none, that's 1/2 turn output for 2 turns of input, or somewhere around 4:1. Possible you have 4.27:1 gears, or even 3.73 or 4.88 depending on how accurate your turns were.

All this wheel turning is more trouble than simply taking the cover off and reading the numbers on the ring gear. Even easier, you might have a tag on one or both of the differentials you can read. If you don't understand the tag or the numbers on the ring gear, post them up and we'll help.

That means you have 4.27 gears. Since you have a a t90 trans I assume you had an F-head motor from the factory.
