how close are a late 3b and early 5 front seat?

    Just wondering if you guys could tell me how close early 5 front seats are to the late 3b seats. I have a set of front seats but i cant tell if theyre early 5 or late 3b and i was wondering if they could be used in my 3b. Thanks

    Nearly anything can be made to fit with enough effort/welding/cutting.

    I would try and bolt them up.

    Since the 3B and ECJ5 were made at the same time for a while I'd be surprised if the early seats weren't the same.

    CJ5 seats did change 64/65-ish though with the earlier ones having internal springs and integral frames. The later ones had foam inside and parts of the frame were external. The later ones had a fold and tumble passenger side seat while the earlier passenger seat only pivoted from the brackets attached to the toolbox.

    Do you have pics of the seats you have?

    Well then if they are early 5 seats they would be pre '64 as the pass seat doesnt fold it just has the pins to pivot fwd like the earlier jeeps. My 3b is a 62 so they should probably be close enough that i can make them work without too much trouble at all.

    Any early CJ5 seat will bolt right in the only part you need to fab is the 90deg bracket for the left side door well mount to work.
