    alrite.. i posted while back i had a 74 CJ5 with a 225 oddfire V6..

put a new set of points in it and it fired right up.. didnt run the best under a load... so put vacumm to the EGR and it ran better...

put new set of plugs in it.. and when i went to put hte wires on.. just put them on the way they came out. well noticed. that the cap is number 123456 in order... and the wires went on in the way of the firing order.. so i put them to the nubmers and it ran alot better.. did have the carb rebuilt

now my question is... this thing id dead on the top end... once over 1/2 throttle its dead

my question is.. is it in my timing? its got the delco ignition in it do i need to adjust my points in or out? or is t here something else wrong? like the vacuum advnace?

or is my distributor off a tooth.. very slight differnce in the runnin when you advnace/retard timing... xcept it will die when you turn it too far the one way.

or does my carb need adjusted? you guys are the experts.. any help would b appreciated..

That's possible. I didn't suggest it since I wasn't sure if you can do that with a points distributor, but I don't know why not.

the timing im not sure.. it was running bad.. had 2 wires swtiched around. so he pulled the distributor..
antoehr question. with the points distributor. the cap is number 123456 does that mean for the cylinders or firing order?

no i mean EGR... its got a EGR valve right behind the carb on the drivers side of the motor. it is a 225 b/c i ran the block numbers and that is what it came back to.

This thing has been kind of a headace.. but he paid 100 bucks.. 100bucks in parts and i got it to run.. so a $200 4wheeler not to bad. just got to get it to actaully run decent.

That's the order in which you attach the plug wires to the cap.

Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2, which in a circular fashion is 123456. ;)

We need pics of this motor. The 225 never came with a an EGR valve, you may have a later 231 manifold. What carb do you have?
Maybe a later 225 boat engine.
