t90 to t150

I recently bought a 66' CJ6 for $100 and to say the least it has a few problems. My question is it has a t90 in it and it seems that the main shaft in it is busted and I have a T150 from a 76' Cj5 that had a 304 in front of it. What would be involved in swapping to the t150 or is this even a feasible swap. Oh by the way it has the Fhead 4 cyl in it now.

 

Not feasible. The T-150 is only compatible with the Dana 20 transfer case. You need a special output gear, and there's none available that matches the Dana 18 in your '60. Plus the front of the transmission is not compatible with the F134 (very few transmissions are).

I suggest you look for a used T-90. There are a lot of them out there. Try the classified here (if they are working) or the forum at Willystech. http://www.willystech.com/parts/board.shtml You can also buy a complete rebuilt T-90 if you'd rather, from Herm among other places.

Thanks. That is kind of what I figured but I thought I would throw it out there to see if someone knew of someway to make it work. I am going to tear it all down and see for sure what all parts I need I got a feeling I will end up getting one from Herms. This is the first early CJ I have owned so I am learing as I go.
