The cam on my V6 has a worn lobe and will need to be replaced. My question to the group is---Hows the feeling on going with the original type cam or going with the Comp Cam 252? I want to keep the low end torque as these engine were set up with and I will be keeping the stock 2 barrel carburetor. I did a search on cams and I didn't come up with anything on how much better one is over the other. I'm sure there are trade offs---comments please!

    Keep the original cam---the pros

Go with the Comp 252 cam---the pros.

The cons are also good to know.

    Thanks
    Harold

If you searched there should've been plenty on the 252H, I know that there's plenty on it here.

Several of us run it in lieu of the stock cam. It's nothing but an improvement over the stock cam IMO, more low-end torque. You might lose a little on the top end, but it's never been enough that I've noticed that.

According to everything I can find a ‘stock’ CAM is between the Comp 252H and 260H (a touch closer to the 252). I am a big proponent of the 252H, but if you need more top end then take a hard look at the 260. So far, I don’t know anyone who is disappointed with the 252, but a couple wanted a little more low end with the 260.

    YMMV - IMHOP - ETC...

happy with the 252H. make sure you get the kit (has the heavier springs and different followers) than just the cam.

would also buy a gasket kit and find out why the one cam lobe wore more than the others. otherwise you'll be replaceing that cam prematurely as well.
