I'm trying to shore up all the leaks in my Jeep and this one has me stumped about how to fix it. My engine appears to be leaking oil around that 'plate' that is under the manifold, where the pcv valve comes out there. How in the world do you fix that? There are no bolts holding that 'plate' on that I can see. How do you get it off? Pic below for reference from the gallery. I'm referring to that plate just below the manifold there that runs pretty much the entire length of the block.

That is the valve cover. The bolts are the 2 in the middle.

That's where you adjust the exhaust valves. The PCV fitting has a through bolt and the gas pedal linkage is mounted on the other.

It's an F-head :D Exhaust valves are in the block, and the intakes are in the head. The lower cover provides access to the exhaust valve tappets.

Well huh. You learn something new everyday. That means that all I have to do is get a new gasket and that should fix that leak. Once again, ECJ5.com has all the answers!

Remove PCV bolt and bell adapter(my terminology) and throttle linkage, use a wrench on the hex stud for the linkage. Use a good gasket seaker to help hold gasket in place while installing cover. There's a small gasket under the bell adapter also. A frosty cold beverage helps also.

Thanks guys. I just picked up the gasket from Kaiser Willys and plan to fix this tonight. I also picked up a new oil pan drain bolt and front and rear pinion seals. I'm going to fix all these leaks if it kills me! Oh and I always end a night of working on the Jeep with a cold brew. :D

Yeah I remember when you came down here a couple years ago and I was supposed to meet you at Appleby's. But when I drove up I didn't see any Jeeps so I went home. Little did I know that you guys didn't drive your Jeeps down. Next time you come I will make sure to try and hook up with you if you want. Should have alot more done to the Jeep by then. Right now I'm concentrating on fixing oil leaks and other minor problems. In May I plan on getting a 2.5" lift and some 34's under her. After that, who knows. :D
