I was looking at my Offy intake and it doesn't have water ports in the back, where as my heads do. Can they just be blocked off or do I have the wrong intake manifold.

Sounds like you have the wrong intake. I wouldn't block off any water ports.

The heads have water ports in both ends so they can be used on either side of the engine, but both ports are not used. Very common. To verify if it's a 231 intake manifold check on the back of the manifold for a hole where the pcv valve goes. Should be a grommet there for the valve to push in to. The hole is about 1 1/2-2" diameter or thereabouts. the 225 didn't use a pcv valve in the intake, they were in the valve cover so they didn't build that provision into the 225 manifolds.... kinda throws you off though, used to the ford big block stuff, figured you had to use those water ports
