Re: Which Octane Gas Should I Use

My 225 seemed a little happier with higher octane, I could just be imagining things though.

For the F-head, I thought that was originally designed to run in a military application. Most military engines can run off dirty nasty low octane gas, so I figure generic 87 octane would do it just fine.

225 runs fine on 87 octane. Never put premium in mine in the 15 years I've owned it. If it doesn't knock on 87 octane anything more is a waste of money.

Compression ratio on a 225 is pretty low, 87 oughta be acceptable, mine runs fine on it.

Your F150 must have a hole in the tank R) My Ram 1500 Hemi gets two more MPG than the JEEP.

You need a higher compression ratio for that, alot higher, in fact I think they're called diesels. ;)

You'll have better luck with a natural gas conversion. It's actually not that hard.
