So I posted before about seeing if a CJ8 top would work, followed peoples advice and gave up that idea.
Moved on to cutting a full top to a half.

I just happed to go see a group here in Mass that had a listing for NOS jeep parts. Man what a place they had a warehouse full of old jeep parts about 99% of them NOS.

    So on to the point

The guy told me he had a brand never mounted top for the commando. Seeing it was new I wasn't interested in using it as the half top donor so never gave it another thought.

I get there ask him for the parts I am looking for. Then he shows me the roof, it's a brand new never used half top with the baffle and 2 other baffle parts. Anyone have an idea of what these other 2 parts might be? Think he said something about they are for the sides.

and what do you think I should have paid for the roof with all the parts?

    You almost never see those.
    Not new forsure.

    I'd grab it.

Ask him what he wants for it.
    Might be resonable never know.
A new soft top is about 650.00.
A beat up full top is about 150.00
New half top I would pay 450.00 or so and be very happy.

    IMHO

Are you talking about a soft HC top?

Dang, too bad it's not a soft top, those are ultra rare, only one in existence I know of.
Back to the question, sounds like you're referring to the bulkhead, theres two side pieces to attach it to the body, they're kind of C shaped.
Only other thing I can think of is it's a Kelly top, they did make full hardtops that bolted together but I've never heard of a HC version.

The c shaped parts must be it.

Going to be fun figuring out how it all goes together.

Shouldn't be too hard to install, definitely easier if the seats are out, especially the drivers side. Just out of curiosity, what did you pay for it? I've seen good used ones go for $500 complete.

    750 for everything.

speaking of seats the ones I have now may be an issue, they are high back buckets out of *gasp* an 80's Mustang (hey they came with the jeep).
I'd like to replace the seats for a few reasons, color (looking for tan) over all feel, don't smell.....

I'm thinking the high backs may not have enough room.
If I remember the stock seats weren't all that comfy for long drives.

I'm tossing around the idea of a set of miata seats if they fit. Small, comfy, speakers built into the head rest. Again just tossing out ideas

$750? Does he have any more? :D:D I've got seats from a 90's Grand Am, a 2002 Cavalier/Sunfire or a set of leather from an 80's XJ to choose between. Those XJ's sure look comfy 8).

no more tops, but other commando parts. He was telling me he had 3 new windshields, 2 oem swing out spare tire carries (which I didn't know commandos had oem swing outs). Brand new th400, some other odd gearing.

A bunch of odd parts. Wish I could get a list of just his commando stuff. They have jeeps part for all years. They are still in the inventory stage so there is no order to the madness or real system for buying.

That's well worth it, I know J&W auto wreckers wanted $650 for a used one, amazing find! I got a somewhat decent used one for $200 so your deal with a NEW bulkhead is amazing. I wish I knew about this guy lol. Good thing my bulkhead is in decent shape... I might ask for some info on your hardtop to see the way things should be on mine for when I restore it in the sections that are rusted through...

I used Bestops, Trailmax Pro, seats with the electric heaters in them. Got the spice color, removed the head rests. They look good, feel good and best of all, they bolt to the stock Jeepsters seat risers. They seem a little pricey, at over $600.00, for the pair, but after throwing away $400,00, plus shipping, on a pair of BMW Sport seats, that I threw away, I'm happy with them.
Heck of a deal on that NOS half top.
