Lift size vs tire size on 62 cj5??????

Well Im suppose to head to quadratec today to get tires and springs and I dont know which size lift and or tires to get. From reading on here it looks as though I can get 31 inch tires on the cj5 with no problems (please corect me if im wrong)
I need to do new springs as the driver side rear is shot to heck and gone. So i saw that there are 1, 2.5, and 3 inch lifts to choose from.
Originaly I planed on doing the 1" and going with 29 inch tsls then figures that I may as well go ahead and do some lift (ill want it latter may as well do it now). So Im back to square one.
Can anyone tell me what size tire they are running with 2.5 and 3 inch lifts? Did you have to move any break lines or anything aside from diff size shocks? Do you have any rubbing (looks like the bigger tires smallest width is 10.5)? The 2.5 is a superlift and the 3 is a blk diamond if anyone can shed some light on preference on brand that would be great as well.

Thanks in advance for the info, and sorry for making another post on lifts and tires
    Doc

EDIT, I would like to keep the stock rims on if that matters at all also.

A few of us have the Black Diamond 3" and run 33s.
    I know of a few with a 2.5" lift running 34s.
All up to the look you want I like 33x12.50x15s or a 33x10.50x15.

Another thought if you have not already looked at the before and after pics thread check it out.
Find a few that have the look or stance you are after and send some PMs.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
The pics idea is great, looked at a few so ill keep at it.
A big issue with this is that im under a time frame as the Twp. wants it inspected so I have to buy the stuff asap.

Check out this thread. http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49949 Pics of Pete for reference. Black Diamond 3" lift and 33x10.50 BFG MTs. From what I've heard the Superlift may have a better ride right out the gate, but after about 2K miles the Black Diamond is softening up some. Can't get the tires to rub even at full compression. Must be the backspacing on the wheels because when stock the tires would rub in back.:v6:

I run superlift 1" on my 3b with heavy duty shackles, (1/2" lift) Rides great, and 32 ss radials fit great! I like staying as close to the ground as possable. No rub issues.

Here's my '71 with stock Renegade springs (getting tired and little arch now) with 33 X 10.50 tires mounted on mid-late 70's Renegade wheels. I have no additional lift with these tires. I have no rubbing or clearance problems. I'm sure they would rub if they were 12.50 wide, however.

I'm planning to install a BDS 2.5" lift by years end. I spoke with BDS and they said I should not expect more than 1" of lift with their kit compared to the stock 1971 Renegade springs.

Good luck with your choice, as there are many variables to consider. Please post a picture when you get done! Thanks,

Re: Lift size vs tire size on 62 cj5??????

33 x 12.5 x 15 on 8's with 3 inch lift SJ's Softrides. No rubbing except at full steer (same as stock). Also I needed to trim my exhaust R) If I crawled hard, I'd probably trim the fenders for that last ounce of articulation.

Have you considered gear ratio impacts? I have 4.27's, but I built it to cruise on the freeway at top gear with an Overdrive, instead of screaming...

Bigger tires find rutts in the road and drift a lot too. I kept my old stock wheels and I'll probably put 31's on em and keep them narrow.
