George, what are you running in it - points - electronic, as with points your dwell (points opening) would change all the time making very eratic idle but could possibly run fairly smooth at higher rpm due thrust holding shaft to one side. Can you fill out your avatar or sumthing. what year rig, engine vehicle etc?

    sorry,i will!!
    i'm running f-134 military.m38a1 stock distributor
i was found this distributor and the seller informed that it is a 015 play at the axle.
i want this distributor to apply a pertronix and change to 12 volts.
where else can i find one used?
i was see the omix electronic but i cant find a replace module for this and i dont trust the chinese hing for my roadf trips without a replace part

You should be able to replace those bushings (bearings) by removing lower gear and removing shaft (axle).

Radial play is what you would need to worry about, axial play is running in the direction of the shaft and most distributors brand new would have around .015 of axial play. Now for radial play I wouldn't want more than about .0015-.002" cause that would make the points bounce around.
Changing bushings won't effect axial play as most of them use shims to control this.

    George,

The replacement module (# 17252.05) was just announced to our distributors on December 21. I actually announced the module on the CJ forum a week before our own customers knew about it. Any one of our customers can order the unit from us. Out of fairness I usually try to refrain from recommending a particular company to purchase from , however I know Walck's Four Wheel Drive has already bought some of the units and may have them in stock. I hope this information helps you. Happy belated New Year.
