It's a complete MC. You'll have to change over the pushrod and grind a little off the top frame rail (just enough to allow the MC cover to fit).:v6:

Like this. View attachment 20771 If your's comes off the firewall I apologize. I was thinking you had an early. Intermediates changed the location and used hanging pedals. Still, master cylinders come complete.:v6:

I thought a '71 would be on the frame rail. Conversion?

A stock 71 would definitely be on the frame rail. A picture of your Jeep would help. It could have been altered at one time as this is a common swap. Where is your heater box?
Hooker why don't you finish filling out your profile and let us know where your from and a little about your Jeep?

I wonder what they were thinking. That's about the dumbest design I've ever seen. You can't even get a can of fluid through that hole.

And yet, it was in use for ~25 years. ;)

They were probably thinking "short linkage, less steel, lower cost".

Get a long funnel, or one of these:

Longer than that if you don't just look at Jeeps and start thinking of other cars and trucks from an earlier era.
I do exactly what Boyink suggested, but just how often do you have to add oil, maybe once every few years at most. I have added oil to mine twice in 15 years.

Mcruff, you really should use brake fluid and not oil. R)

CJ's are easy. You should try lying under a wagon and adding brake fluid. :)
