I have been reading a lot about caster shims, but can find no where to purchase them.

I have a 73 cj5 with a spring over, with obviously wrong caster. I am about to replace the dana 30 in front (broken carrier) and was going to attack this problem at the same time.

Who knows where I can find spring shims to adjust caster?

WEB SIte or PM McRuff as I believe he custom makes some for folks here.

You want STEEL shims, NOT AL.

Mcgruff made me a set. Very nicely made, got them to me fast and the angle was right on.

Thanks all. McGruff sounds like a good man.

I may have to approach this differently. Looking more closely, seems if I get the caster right the pinion will be pointed at the ground, down, instead of up.

Just from eyeball, it looks like the caster is way negative, the lower ball joint is "behind" the upper ball joint. Looks like 5 degrees or so.

From what it seems, to keep a reasonable pinion angle and get reasonable caster, I will have to rotate the steering knuckles, a task I don't feel up to right now. From what I have read.

Having trouble making up my mind, as I am going to have to replace the front assembly anyway, as the carrier is badly broken. There is a local guy who has a complete 3.73 front end for a couple hundred. I guess if I just swap that out, I can practice rotating the knuckles on that one.

I don't run this on the street, at all, BTW.
