Which ball joints should I buy for my dana 30. I've been reading the forum and it looks like everyone likes MOOG. Then I saw how sometimes the ball joints look like they don't press in all the way so people wish they went spicer. So Spicer, Moog, cheapies? Whats the preference?

Spicer or the NAPA 260-1343 & 260-1342. Compare these to cheapies and you will see there is a huge difference.

i used the moog's, and they do stick out a little differently than spicer. however, i've put a few thousand miles on them, and haven't had any ill effects, either.

i'd go with whatever decent brand is in stock at the flaps.

I used whatever 4WDH provides. They didn't press in flush, but it was no problem. They are greaseable, but the zerk had to be swapped for a plug (provided) to get clearance for the axle ujoint (you just rotate the axle, remove the plug and install the zerk whever it needs greased).
I don't know the brand but they appeared substantial and held up well. Be sure to get the set ring tool to tighten the set ring on the upper ball joint.

I put moog joints in one of mine. Very dissatisfied! Almost half the adjuster sticks out when adjusted to spec. My next ball joints will be spicer.

All I've heard: the concensus is Spicer. Moog is good quality, but the Spicer joints fit better.

Yes, I think it was your thread JeepTherapy, that turned me to spicer. I heard that the moog ball joints come with some type of angled zerk fitting to grease the top one? He said it wasn't a typical right angle fitting, but something different. I wonder if the spicer's have this. I grease my front end all the time, sometimes daily to pump out the mud. I hate doing this as it is, I would really prefer not to have to unsrew plugs every time. I think I might give the company a call about their spicer ball joints. I'll see why its only 50 bucks for both of them and if they have a fitting that the axleshaft won't smash. Unless someone has personal experience with them.

Here's a web page about the Dana reorganization.
    http://www.dana.com/reorganization/

Just because Dana is reorganizing doesn't mean that they are going away for good. It could be a terrible loss for Dana retirees and stockholders, but it probably won't affect those of us interested in Dana's products.

the grease fitting for the moog joints comes out the side so the fitting can stay in and is greaseable without removing or installing anything.

So how do you grease the spicer ball joints? you have to unscrew the plug and screw in a zerk, huh? Then plug it again?

Dana Spicer was and continues to be an OE supplier for Jeep, Ford and GM. Whenever items are still available we offer Dana Spicer products to our retailers.
