My buddy totalled his stang and I got the engine off him for $100.00 which is a good deal, its the 5.0 with alot of upgraded parts(fuel injectors, intake). My f-head is locked up and I had researched on here and various other sites, what would I be looking at to try putting this thing into my 65? Would it be worth it or would I be better off getting a smaller engine?

It would fit. The V6s and inline 4s are probably easier though.

Take a look at the Novak site - they have a lot of information specific to this swap. http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ford_small_block_v8.htm I remember someone posting here about making the 5.0L shorter than the Chevys with a water pump swap? Something like that. Search or post a question with a very specific title, ie "Swapping Ford 5.0L into an early CJ?" If the 5.0L is short, you'll have less trouble than a Chevy V8 swap because of the distributor location.

I'd thnk it'd be a good swap, but you'd need to make sure your driving habits were compatible with the stock drivetrain. We've discussed this topic a lot in the past too - you may want to change the engine and transmission, spending your money on the trans-TC adapter rather than an engine adapter.

    hth!

If you keep an eye on the Build forum and my Kahuna project you'll get to see how a small block ford install goes.
    I purchased a M38A1 w/ a 289, 4speed with the sole intension of pulling the drivetrain to go into my 66 CJ6
Should have some pics up on that thread tonite...by the way I drove the M38 for about a week and it works fine:twisted:
