    I started a thread a little while back regarding a '49 3a I just recently purchased.
Well I got it up and running but the tires are looking pretty weak. They are old Firestone NDT's. I am looking for something to replace them with that wont break they bank.
I saw replicas but almost fell over when I saw they were a hundred bucks a pop.
I like the looks of the military tires and this will be on the street only so an aggressive pattern isn't necessary. It will be a fair weather vehicle.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't 100$ pretty standard for any tire that would fit on a jeep? I'd exptect to pay more than that, at least for a decent one.

You can find them for slightly cheaper, depending on your size, but not by much:

Really nice looking Firestone NDT/NDCC at Coker (click on the "search" button after following this link):

Also check in to your local ag supply for a tire made by Kelly Springfield marketed under a couple different private labels, but commonly called a "Co-op Grip Spur."

If you really want to keep the cost down, look for used tires from another Jeep enthusiast, or maybe hi-tec retreads (site seems to be down - hope they aren't gone ... http://www.high-tec-retreading.com/ ).

Thanks for the help guys. I thought a hundred bucks seemed like a lot for NDT's but since they are a specialty tire now I guess that is not all that expensive.

I always thought Super Swampers looked good on flat fenders. One positive thing about them is that many come in skinny widths so they fit better on flat fenders. The TSL Radial would be a good choice, but they're probably going to be more than $100 each. Actually $100 isn't a bad deal for tires. Most truck / SUV tires are going to be in the $125-$175 range these days.
