i just got all the gauges hooked up in my 225. im wondering what the normal coolant temp is, mine is around 190. im guessing thats good because i have a 180degree t stat. but i dont know much

my oil pressure is around 20 lbs at 900-1000 rpm, and at 2000 its around 30 lbs. is that about right?

    thanks!

The tmep is about right, the idle oil pressure is fine to, the oil pressure at 2000rpm should be a little higher. Mine was at about 35-38psi at that speed before I rebuilt the motor. I don't think I would consider that a problem as your motor may have a little more wear in the bearings or it could be the type of filter or grade of oil you're running.

Pretty good rule of thumb is about 10lbs per 1,000 rpm for sufficient oil to needed areas. Temp is good for 180 T stat. Sounds like a go to me.

i changed my oil today,i was a little low before. now it idles at about 900-1000 with 30 lbs, and at around 2000 it has around 40lbs, i guess this engine actually have 30k miles on it. the odometer was actually close for once R)

ok, ive noticed i get different readings after the engine is warmed up, i guess i should realized that. before its warmed up it has around 20lbs at idle, and at 2k rpm it has over 40lbs. but once its warm like 190-210 degrees, the pressure at idle (500rpm) is like 5-10lbs, then 20-30lbs around 2k rpm. i started using a thicker oil, 15w40 and it did not seam to do much, i also dropped the oil pan, cleaned out the pump screen and cleaned out the pan. now im gettin scared im wondering if im gunna have to send my spare v6 out to be rebuilt :( how much longer do i have on a motor that has 5-8lbs of oil pressure at idle.

    Until it blows. (just kidding!)

I wouldn't get really worried about the oil pressure, considering how notoriously inaccurate the factory gauges are. If the engine sounds healthy (no rod knocks or valve ticks) run it!

*******, I had a similar issue, different engine (258), factory gauge. After getting the idle set right, on a good hot day 100°+ I was getting 0-5lb readings at idle. The PO had changed the oil just before I got it, it was still kinda clean, but remembering how I used to have to switch to a much thicker oil in the summer with my Shovelhead to get any kind of decent pressure, I changed the oil in the jeep to 20-50. I don't know what was in there before, but my pressure is now 15-20 at idle 40-50 crusin'.
But its always anywhere from 90°-115° here in the summer.

Rather than running heavier oil, you might want to get into the oil pump (inspect/repair/replace). not a major undertaking, but best done while changing oil. the factory book calls for sae 30 summer, 20 winter.

i guess im ok, i do have about 10lbs for every 1000 rpm, i just get worried when it goes to 5lbs when im idling at 500 rpm. :) ill try 20w50 next oil change (or when my jeep burns it all up, whichever comes firstR)) and see if it does anything. then switch back to 15w40 for the colder months. thanks guys! i cant begin tell you how much of a help you have been over the last year!

Mine stays at roughly 25psi (at idle), and climbs to 45ish (at speed) and between 195-205* (assuming I have a 190* t-stat, po installed don't know for sure). Could be several things from engine wear to a improperly calibrated gauge causing a lower pressure reading on yours, i probably wouldn't worry about it at all, rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpms.

The oil filter will also contribute to oil pressure, the Puralatorr pure one will raise oil pressure about 3-5psi. I would also raise my idle speed to 650-700, 500rpm is to low and its hell on the bearings.
