Ok ive got a problem. My jeep jumps all over the place. When ever I put her in gear and take off or am driving down the road and let off and then goose it, the whole dang jeep tries to jerk itself into the left lane. I cant seem to figure out whats wrong and it makes driving the jeep a scary experience. Its everytime torque is applied and it feels like the frame is going to rip off of the axles in a clockwise motion. What in the world could this be? Tranny mount? Transmission stabilizer? Motor mounts? Im lost........

Oh yeah and its a 75 CJ-5 with a 351W with 2.5" procomp lift, 1.5" lift shackles, 4.10 (or 4.11 im not sure gears), locker in the rear and limited slip in the front.

sounds lke mine...I call it torque steer. The engine has so much torque it steers the Jeep into the next lane. First time I drove my Cj, I did that and ended up hitting the curb before I got it under control. My wife still gives me cr*p about that (she was following me). I bet your locker in the rear amplifies the problem.

    Have you recently replaced springs????

I had the same problem. Torque steer was due to the u-bolts that attach the springs to the rear axle had loosened. Tightened the nuts and the problem went away.

nope didnt replace the springs but when i got the jeep last week I did tighten the ubolts downabout 2 full turns each, so i know they are tight.

One thing that my dad just mentioned is something im definitly gonna have to investigate. Today I put a new drag link in and was kind of lazy with the install. I pulled the old one off, matched the new one's length to the old one and slapped it on. Im gonna go back and measure inside lip to inside lip on both the front and back side of the rims to check to see if I have excessive toe in. My dad said that if i do then when the torque from the motor unloads the left tire, the toe in from the right tire would make it pull like crazy because it would no longer have the opposite tire's toe in to counter it.

also could someone tell me what the shift pattern is on my tcase? I thought that it was

    4h
    2h
    n
    4l

but i had it in what should have been 2h and it was like it was in 4l gearing wise. put it in what I thought was 4h and gearing seemed right.

It should have a Dana 20 T case and you have the correct shift pattern there. You have a lot of power on hand and a locker in the rear. That will definitely change driving characteristics on road. You didn't go spring over with that 2.5 inch lift did you???

With that amount of combined lift, your caster may be out of spec, causing or contributing to control issues.
I agree that toe-in is important and should be checked, can cause problems as described.
And a Detroit can cause those sudden lane shifts... the more power applied, the more reaction you may see.

Insufficient caster can cause wandering, difficulty keeping the rig between the lines, and poor return-to-center after a turn. If you are experiencing these symptoms, get a front end alignment, see what your caster is compared to factory spec. In order to get to around 5 degrees positive caster, you may need to install steel shims of between the front leaf packs and the axle perch (fat end forward). These shims can be purchased in various degree wedges to restore the caster. Always use steel, not aluminum.
    Here is one source:

Rubicon Express is another. Be sure to order the width that matches your springs.

you've got the correct pattern. what can happen, especially on older d20 t-cases, is you can have a 2l spot that wasn't intended to be there. it comes from wearing out various components of the shift mechanism. 4h and 2h would appear the same, especially with the front hubs unlocked.

    the non-intended pattern is 4h-2h-n-2l-4l.

My 20 has the shift rail modded for 2L, if it doesn't feel like a detent position it is probably worn if it does it may have been modded by a P.O.
