I am going to put a new exhuast on my cj5 73 304. I have a Y pipe and would like to try something different. I would like to get a nice deep sound from the exhaust, but nothing to loud. I have seen exhaust pipes that come out the sides right below the driver/passenger doors. I really do not want them below me I think it would to loud. What I would like to do is run the new exhaust pipes out the back as dual if possible, but I dont think I can because I have a 22 gallon tank and I only have room one one side

I've seen it done inside the frame rails on a '72 CJ5. Dual tailpipes with the stock routing on opposite sides.

Some of the Wagoneer guys prefer a single larger diameter pipe with a single muffler. On a Wagoneer, true dual exhausts are possible, with both mufflers on the same side and both tips exiting the same side. To get the benefit from true duals you need a crossover pipe, which raises the complexity some for a CJ. If it were mine, I'd use a free-flowing muffler and increase the single tailpipe diameter a little.
