    Hi everyone,

Im finishing up the front end on my cj, and will soon start back on the rear end. Im assuming that the rear axle shafts are worn really bad (like everything else that was in the rear end). my 4wd hardware catalog has a set, and I think theyre manufactured by omix ada. I was just wondering what the quality of these shafts are?

I saw on a website (forgot url) once, the owner purchased a set of shafts but wore out within the first 10k miles or so. He had a system where you can let a hammer drop about a foot onto a punch placed on the axle shaft. If it was dented, that meant that the axle shafts were of inferior quality, and should be returned. Please let me know. Just looking further ahead in the event that the axle shafts are worn around the oil seal area. Thanks much.

I got an Omix Ada axle shaft and wasn't impressed. Mine wouldn't keep the hub nut tight for some reason; even went to the point of having all 200 lbs of me standing on a 2 foot long bar to tighten it. Even tried different hubs. Think they're right, the steel wasn't hardened correctly on the one I got.

Eventually got mad and installed a Warn full float as I ended up flat towing the jeep a lot.

first, I'd check yours; if they are good and, if they are original, they'll have "Spicer" emblem or the word stamped into them.
if they are bad, try and get some good used Spicer shafts; they are the best compared to any you can buy new today.

I bought a new shaft for the D25 from Border Parts outside San Diego. The shaft arrived with no wear and a WO in the casting. It doesn't say Spicer. Is this NOS or Omix-Ada?
