I broke the brake line to the front pass. side last night. Gonna pick up a new line and bend/install tonight.
I've never really bled brakes before. I heard it should be the longest line to the shortest, but should I bleed the newly installed line first then proceed to the longest lines?
    Any help/tips would be appreciated...

    thanks in advance

Hay Jim, bleeding brakes isn't all that bad. Its best to have two people i.e. spouse or kid that can push the brake pedal and listen to directions.;) They can pump the brakewhile your under neath opening/ closing bleaders.
Start on rear pass. side get helper to pump brakes a few times and then hold pressure on them while you open the bleeder. When the pedal is on the floor, close bleeder then tell helper to let pedal up. (if they let pedal up before you close bleeder it will suck air back in.) repeat 4-5 times. check reservior and refill, then move to driver side rear. repeat. 4-5 times (check reservoir etc. front pass. repeat. Front driver side, repeat. dont forget to check reservoir.R)

    A few helfull hints,
    1) get a small long funnel for filling res.
2)get a 20" piece of clear vinal 3/16 line and hook it onto bleader that your working on, then put it into a glass jar. That way you can see the bubbles of air comming out as you bleed each brake. (Note: There's not much room so you will have to loosen the bleeder the first time with out the line on.)

If one of your lines blew, then its time to replace all the others now! With a single reservior you want everything up to snuff. You might do new wheel cyl. and a new master cylinder to, then you know everything is right.
    Good luck.

Start with the wheel farthest (furthist?)from the master cylinder (right rear). Unless you have a duel res. MC. Then you can just bleed the fronts starting with the RF. At least that's what I've been taught.

Hey there, I just replaced the entire brake system on my M38A1 and bought a vacuum bleeder at Harbor Frieght for $14.99. It worked sweet. Only one person needed and any future brake bleeds will be a snap! Good luck!

The brakes were serviced just before I purchased it...the line broke as my #1 helper (12yr old son) was pulling it out of the way while we reinstalled the radiator. I'm going pb update drum/disc later this summer, will replace everything then...
H.F. is just down the street...this is a good excuse to pic up s'more stuffR) .
