I am posting so many questions because I am purchasing additional jeeps:
'46 CJ2A (see my post in Flat Fender); and a '62 CJ5 stock. The present owner of the '62 said that the axle ratio is 5.38 and has a rear limited slip from the factory. Could it be factory or is it definitely aftermarket?

    Thanks

Powerlocks were available from the factory.

I am not familiar with the powerlock. I know alittle about the gov-lock having dealt with some military vehicles.

Is it a decent LS? (if there is such a thing:rofl: ). I assume the carrier is different.
    Thanks

Well....what's the difference -- factory or after market but dealer installed? AFAIK all limited slips were dealer installed -- just like softops, etc.

If it's a PowrLok and the clutches are good it's a good LSD.

    Thanks for the info.
I was really trying to determine if it is OE or an aftermarket product.

Nope, at least not by '71. Factory LSD was a common option. Maybe not in '62, but I don't think so - I'd expect a lot of Jeeps were delivered then with factory LSDs.

Sure - where I worked, they'd mix the parts and flat rate hours into the deal somehow.
