Wheeling the last three weekends has taken a toll on my back (pinched nerve). If I wish to continue wheeling I need to find a comfortable suspension seat to absorb the shock.

I would appreciate any recommendations for a supportive shock absorbing seat that won’t break the bank.

I will be installing the seats in my 78 CJ5, I’m 6’2 200-210 (some seats are too narrow)

Chuck, I used to have Bostrom high-backs in my CJ-6. These were the seats that the dealership put in the Baja racecars, and they were very comfortable. None of Bostrom's current offerings really looks like them though - they had a flatter seat cushion and were boxier.

If you want an air-suspension seat, I found this site that lists a lot of them. http://www.industrialseats.com/category.asp?categoryID=20 You can also buy the air suspension platform to go under your existing seat - that might be more economical.

PRP is a pretty popular manufacturer in the rock crawling scene and their prices are very reasonable. They offer a pretty wide variety of seats, including oversize for us big guys.

Personally, I put a set of leather buckets from a 93 zj limited in mine, and they fit fairly well (will need to do the wheel house notch eventually, but that's not different than the old one anyway), and are a heck of alot more comfortable than the junkers that were in there. I jsut swapped the sides, so the passenger seat is on the driver side and vise versa. That way i can easily reach the recline lever since its on the inside. Not only that but I got them for $75, and then sold the power seat motors off of them for $60, best $15 seats ever. :)

I have those in my 74. Tight fit, and for a tall guy might be too tight. Will have to notch the wheel well. But they are very comfotable. I have 9 vertabra that have been fractured. I don't skimp on seats. These are well worth the bux. I have also really liked the beard seats I had in my 78 cj7. Mastercraft has some really nice offerings too.

I saw these at SEMA and they looked pretty decent too. As I recall they were a lot cheaper than the other two.

This is what I plan to put in the 3b. Half the $$$ Mastercraft reclining suspension seat.
I know in the 3b I will not be able to move the recline back and forth much but on an all day trail ride it would like to move it a little to cange pressure points.

    Thanks to those who replied.

The Bostrom T-Series air ride seats looks like it would work with a little fab work and it comes with its own 12v compressor.

Side note: the pictured seat does not come with arm rests.

I was also told of a “Bouncy seat’ that I could use out of a Gen -1 Mitsubishi Montero that would basically work similar to the above seat. I’ll see if I can hunt one down and use the Bostron as backup if I have no luck in my search.

    Again, thanks

The sunk in bucket seats are great, but hard to turn to the side to look out.

Since this is a post about seats i would like to remind everybody that I am still looking for some high backed off road seats that will fit the early Cj5s all the manufacturers don't seem to go back beyond 1976. I am looking for seats
that will accept a four point hitch. They all seem too deap. I am currently running a seat from a Ford Bronco, which is 18 1/2 inches deep. With only a lap belt

I have hi-backs in the '60, but don't know where they came from. Some PO put them in somewhere along the line. Didn't do a good job either, I had to move the drivers seat over 5 inches toward the center and down 1/2". R) With just lap belts, but I am planning on three- or four-point harness, depending on where I mount the shoulder straps.

I think any hi-back will work, you just need to work out how to mount them.:coffee: :)
