The PO made some very nice shackles - from center top hole to center of bottom is about 5 inches. He was running 15 x 8.5 wheels with 33x12.5 mud tires. I have gone back to stock looking 15 x7 rims with 235/75R15 all terrain tires. 2 questions - what is the length of stock shackles & should I get stock ones or after-market? This rig will mainly see lite off roading if any. TIA

I run 31x10.5 with a 2 1/2" Rancho lift and have used the stock shackles for 15 years now without any problems.

Those shackles at jeepdoc look real nice. I like the ones with the center bolt better... anyone know if they are still stock length? It doesn't say on the website. It's part number 4018.

    Thanks for the link.

I have the ones you are talking about. I thought they were stock when I ordered them, but they give a very slight lift (~1/4 or 3/8"). I should have measured side by side with my old stock shackles, but it seems the center-to-center distance was ~1/2 different.

Mine measure 3.75", center to center on the bolts. I have no reason to believe they are not stock.

I have a 1963 Cj5 with stock shackles, and they measure 2-3/4 center of bolt to the center of bolt. And my 1955 Cj5 has the U-shaped shackles that have grease fittings, and they also a measure 2-3/4 center of grease fitting to the center of grease fitting. So my guess is that stock is 2-3/4 for the CJ5s

Now a 2.25 drop seems to justify going back to stock shackles - thanks for the replies - trip to Turner 4WD tomorrow is in order!!!

Fire God , i just measured my STOCK shackles and they are 2 3/4 " .the currie shackles i bought some time ago 3 3/4" and were advertised as 1/2" lift.this seems to be true.the shackles i bought from TELLICO are advertised as 1/2" lift and they measure 4 3/4".this would be a 1" lift if my math is correct.needless to say i am not to happy with the LONG shackles they send me. there are better ways to lift a vehicle if you want more than 1/2". I will return them and look elsewhere.just thought you would like to know.

I was just looking at my shackles again.
I apparently needed another cup of coffee when I took the measurement. It is 2.75" center to center. Sorry for the snafu.
