    Hey everyone,

I'm in Virginia so we don't get too harsh of winters, and steamy hot summers. I've always run plain old 10w-30 in my jeeps, but I'm curious what everyone else runs in their F-heads? Is there any good reason to run a different grade oil at the climate I'm at?

Havoline 10-30 over here. I think that changning it often is more important than what grade/brand you run. In hot weather, 10-30 should be fine...I've switched to 5-30 in extreme winter weather, but it's not usually necessary.

I've always been a good example of a bad example but (not much comparison...BUT) My Diplomat had 100,000 miles exactly the day I bought it and changed the oil and used whatever filter and oil was on sale, Been changing the oil every 2 years or soo (when ever I feel like it) and have estimated that I put another 70,000 on it since. Oil pressure is at 14 psi at low hot gallop idle (light racing cam) I understand changing oil is a good thing but after 10 years and about maybe 4 or 5 oil changes with no problems in pressure, I figure "why change my way's?"

Also I might add that I also use "Restore" in place of every other monthly quart of oil it needs (due to leakage) .

I guess I like the idea of the old pickup's with 3 on the tree that you NEVER change oil or clean the engine but just add oil when it needs it and keep's running beyond 200,000 miles:)

Straight 30w in mine. Have considered going to straight 40w, which is what my '94 Malibu ski boat requires.

I need to figure out what type of oil I should be using in the middle of the summer here in Tucson when the temperatures can get up to 118° in the shade. I've been told that the heavier weight oils make the engines work much harder. So I will be asking everybody, because I want me F-134 to last a long time. If you have good oil pressure, what does the heavier weight oil actually do for the engine

in your case i would use 15w40,but if you have good oilpressure carry on with what you are using, here in VA i use 10w40 and change @ every 3000mi religiously:beer: but you have to take the conditions your particular vehicle is experiencing into conideration:rofl:
