windshield frame fitment?

will a 82 cj5 or cj7 windshield frame fit on my 73 cj6?

 

Nope,

They changed the windshield profile starting in '76. So you need to find a '55-'76 windshield frame. I believe anything CJ5/6 in that range will work for you.

 

With some minor mods it will fit but you would need a completely different top (if you currently have one) and finding a top for a CJ-6 with the later windshield will be impossible. One would have to be custom made as the windshield frame angles back more and the sides aren't straight like on the '75 and older, they angle in on the sides. Best to find one from a '55-'75 CJ, doesn't matter if a 5 or 6, they are the same. '76 was the first year of the "late" windshield. You might look in the tech section, I think there are some good pics there that show the differences between the early and intermediates used during these years. Any of them will work, but some are more desireable than others. Nickmil

 

Actually my goal would be to use the late model windshield frame with a Scrambler half cab top. then I believe later model cj5 doors would work with that top and windshield frame???? any thoughts?
