I put a new set of 8mm ignition wires on the JEEP last weekend. Fired it up and ran it - no problems. I went out to crank it yesterday and the starter bumped once - no light, no wipers nothing. The radio works but it is power directly from the battery.

I checked all connections and even put a new battery in it. All I can get is an occasionally bump of the starter, but it is not consistent.

Any recommendations on where to go next would be greatly appreciated.

I checked connections. Guess I'll go clean them all now - just to be sure. TNX

You might try running a wire from the battery directly to the starter (not in gear). If that works you can rule out starter and look for other shorts, ignition switch, bad grounds, etc.

If I understand correctly, you don't have lights or wipers now. If that is true, then with a good battery, it almost has to be a bad connection. Check especially the connection from the battery to the frame and from the frame to engine. A test light on a couple of clip leads or a voltmeter should help find the problem. Check the voltage from the frame to the battery,
and the engine to the battery.

Thanks Gang. Bad connection where the negative battery cable attaches to the engine block. Cleaned it and it's runnin' like a champ. I keep forgetting that things can go bad just sittin' there.
