I did a foolish thing of using vise grips to spin my hub. It was frozen inside and bent the whole clutch mechanism:oops:. Will any junkyard trucks have hubs that I can use on the stock axle of my 74 CJ5? I have a late cj5 and scrambler available at a local yard. What about chevy's or ford's? ton's of them around. Even an old scout.

74 CJ5 stock would have a Dana 30 front axle
you will need hubs that have a spline count of 27
that rules out any/all early Jeeps-Scouts as they only have 10 splines
can't help with what other makes might fit

its most likely best, if they are broken, and you had to use vice-grips to turn them, its time for a set of new hubs.. its a good investment,ya dont want used old hubs to break on you when you need 4wd..

    just an idea

True, but what about set in good condition off an 80 something cj5? Actually,i think they only have 5 bolts. Theses Jeeps have lots of good parts on them. If they were maintained then they will be worth it to save the money and keep mantaining them. My current set I got to too late.

The older hubs, like what came off your cj are better than the newer 5 bolt hubs, so I would not downgrade. You can use the hubs off of scouts; all of the ones that I have seen are the same as yours, and easier to find in a junkyard.
