55 cj5

    came acrossed a 55 cj 5 today thats for sale. can pick it up for a couple hundred. never restored one of these. body is shot, floors gone. frame is solid motor appears to be all there. has driver side heater. odometer reads 38XXX shifts(trans and transfercase) does anyone think its worth me trying to restore it? could use it for parts for my 2a. trans and tranfer, steering ect. thanks doug vin is 57548 68855

    Shoot no, I wouldn't get that... Send me the name/number so you don't have to deal with that atrocity.:)

    If the title is clear, it's well worth it. A little scrap metal and a wire welder, you could be out wheelin' in no time.

    title is clear. may buy for my youngest son(13) to wheel in .keeps him out of my cj2a.

    Someone may need to verify, but with that serial number, I don't *think* it's a 55. My '57 is #51051.

    really not sure it's a 55. copied vin off the tag and did a search on line and it came up as a 55 cj 5. guys asking $200 but may get it for less. haven't started the dealing yet. if i decide not to take it i'll post and give some one else a shot.

    What Thad said, be sure to check the VIN document Zoomer, WYOMIKE, and $ Sink have put together that's available in the "Where's my VIN?" thread here in the forum.

    Seems too late to be a '55. Don't know where you found that info but it might be wise to double check.

    Nothing against other sites but we have a GREAT resource here that folks seem to ignore, or maybe just don't know it exists.

    Zoomer, $ sink and WYOMIKE have put alot of time into this document.

    it is an early 58 thanks all. used the same link but it took my son to point out i was reading it wrong. thanks again i think i'll go start the ball rolling on it
