I have had a steering damper on my tie rod with the Ross box. Now that I am installing a sagi p/s setup I am not sure if I'll need the damper or not. I need to remove it for the conversion but not sure if I need to reinstall it on the new. Anybody have some input here?

In '72 and '73, the CJ came with Saginaw steering and no steering damper. There were lots of complaints by owners of a minor shake at around 40 mph, so Jeep came out with a warranty repair kit that installed a damper. I recall that by '74 or '75 the damper was installed on all the CJs because Jeep was installing so many after the fact ... they decided to put one on every Jeep from the factory. My '77 J-10 has a damper - clearly a factory installation.

Some will say you don't need one if all the parts are in top shape and everything is aligned, but apparently Jeep Corp did not agree. Plus you have it, may as well use it. No downside AFAIK.
