Iam looking for help to mount a windshield to fiberglass tub, mostly the hole positions. I have assembled the original hinge on the original windshield and positioned it with the seal in place and marked the holes. This however has brought up a few questions.
What is the set gap from the windshield to the cowl without the seal in place?
Is there a difference between a ECJ5 1966 to a 1983 CJ7 seal? I have both and can not see a difference expect the length.
Any other tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I do know they are different. Don't know about thickness but they are different styles. I ordered one for me and one for MOP and compared.

    Thanks Adam
After looking at couple websites that sell these seals they are different for sure. I have two CJ7 seals, the one has been cut off to fit ECJ5 but the angle does not fit windshield angle very well. I guess Iam going to look for the early seal.

Anyone got a measurement on the gap between the windshield and cowl?

    Thanks

Guess I should explain. I have a '76+ WS on my fiberglass tub. MOP's WS is original to his '68.

I have the late model WS seal on a ECJ fiberglass tub. What I did was place the hinges and seal on the WS, then I lined up the WS on the body and drilled and tapped the mounting holes on the body. I adjusted the hold down brackets to make the WS stand up slightly more than the late models. Not sure how well the seal works as I have not driven it in the rain.

As another note, check the surface that the WS seals against. Some glass bodies will sag in the middle. Easy to fix, on a hot day leave it out in the sun, or use a heat lamp and place a jack in the middle to flatten out the surface. I installed a piece of angle underneath, I think it was a 1x2 angle, and put pressure in the center with a bottle jack. The angle serves two purposes, one to help hold the WS surface flat, and two, gives me a place to bolt the dashboard.

Good tip on the angle iron. I'll need to wait on the seal to get here and try your WS method. Sounds like it should it should go smoothly.

    Thanks
