Lets see some pics. There should be alot about steering wheel installs. Run a search here.

Good info on the steering wheel in the prior post. I used mass quantities of PB Blaster over numerous days & pulled like h*ll. It didn't budge. Spoke to my mechanic, who works on lots of old Jeeps & he said I wasn't mad enough at the wheel. Sooo, I got real mad, pulled & jerked like nobodys business & it popped free. Only problem was he (the mechanic) forgot to mention that the force of my legs against the floor would propel me backwards at a terrific rate of speed when the wheel popped. For a brief milli-second I was ecstatic the wheel popped off, then the pain of my cranium impacting the roll bar took over. Word to the wise, tape a nice soft, fat pillow around the roll bar prior to implementing this technique.;)

Winching your steering wheel off reminds me of a buddy who couldn't get the door open on his camper. Hooked one end of a chain to the door knob and the other to his Jeep. "Dang thing came right open". His words not mine. He said as soon as he popped the clutch the whole door flew off the hinges! Had to be an easier way.

I've had good luck just backing the nut out until it is flush with the end of the shaft then thumping it with a 2 lb. hammer a couple of times. Has worked every time so far.
