I did not know if this is the right spot, but I wanted to show you guys the way I did my saginaw swap utilizing the original column with no parts from advance adapters. jeepaholic and I did it a bit different, as it used a big bore J2000 saggy box

    This was on a 1966 CJ5 frame

The column mods, I snagged the splined end from a junk CJ7 column I had. We cut the sheet metal column at the length we wanted then beat the bracket that normally is used to bolt to the top of the ross box as a floor flange. The brass bushing that normally rides in there was slid up inside that bracket as well using a hammer and patience.

The plate the saginaw box partially bolts to (2 bolts) will get welded solid to the frame, my 110 welder was not up to the job on that thick steel

I also used a CJ7 steering arm/rod it was almost the perfect length

we reinforced the floor where the bottom of the steering wheel mounted with plate on both sides

I will also need another pitman arm... it will be pretty short as well from the looks of things.

I think it is a J2000 box, I am not sure, it is much larger then the usual CJ box

Howdy, just a little words of advice. After looking at your install and the pitman arm, and your comment about it maybe a little short. You, may want to see if your pitman arm length is going to be long enough. I made the mistake of mounting my box back to far on my CJ2A and had to shorten my pitman arm to clear the tie rod. This made the steering ratio so slow that I had to plan my turns a week in advanced, this may sound funny, but I had to cut everything off and remount the whole thing. You, can't imagine how much one inch can make, and you want to mount your box as far forward as you can get it, trust me!

Mine is currently too long. I need a shorter one. The drag link if I hit a hard enough bump could possibly come in contact with the tie rod, barely but it can happen. The saggy box was so large it is in the only possible position we could do. The only other way to fix it would be a smaller CJ saggy box, run everything under the crossmember and through the motor mount (while doing a better job then the previous owner)

How long is that thing? It looks the same length as a standard saginaw box.

I dont have the measurements, but If I would have mounted it like yours IIRC it would have been hitting the spring hanger, and I think there was an issue with mounting it that low too.
