Odd Fire tach

How do you set the tach up for the odd fire v6 with HEI?? It is a 6 cyl, but the dist is a modified 8 cyl cap.................Is it straight forward?? I would like to put a SW tach in my CJ

 

IIRC you should be able to use the TACH terminal on the cap...I think it's only reading 1 pulse per revolution so it should work with a standard tach (?). Someone here will know for sure.

 

Nothing special about it. Just set the tach to "6cyl" and you're done.

 

I am aware of the tach hookup. Just wondering if it makes a diff to the tach if it is set on 6 or 8 or if that part even matters.

yep, just set the tach to 6 cyl. i used the old clip that fit the the orig hei tach socket and just ran the wire to the tach. works great.

 

I got it. It works off the firing impulses.
