Thanks for the link. I would like to have a super high output alternator but it can probably wait for awhile. I need to get some good testing done first to see how much it is needed.

    Yep good plan, Lafester

You are sure ahead of me on the winch issue--

I just mentioned it because I just put a CS- 144 alt on my old Pontiac and had to learn how to wire it--and it really chages - big heavy charge cable to the battery-- I could run 8 sets of head lights off of this alt with power to spare.

You are sure building a capable Jeep with tranny, winch -

I like to study the goodies, and maybe find one in a pick and pull for way cheap-- and save $$. These high output alternators came/come on stock on some GM sedans that had a full package from the mid-90s till present. Can charge a battery much much faster than an earlier model 30A Delco under a load.
The CS-144 Delco-Ramsey can be wired as easily as the one wire delco too- and a bracket to mount it on a Dauntless is not too hard to build.

The major disadvantage of an electric winch (vs PTO) has always been battery draw-- big battery and big alternator will really give you a powerful winching ability- esp in the winter cold.
