I'm having some headers made up for my '55 CJ5, F134, 4 tubes into a collector, and was wondering if there was much interest from anyone else in getting some? If there is enough interest to make it worth his while, I can probably have him set up a jig so he can just turn them out as needed. This guy used to build drag engines and a machinest by trade. He's pretty sharp on gettin hp out of metal. I'm thinkin it would be in the 150.00 dollar area. Let me know, and I'll post pics of them when they are done and get a solid price.

Talk to me Goose! I have an L-head, but an F-head header will bolt right up. The tough part with any 4-banger in an early Jeep is getting the pipes to co-exist with the steering shaft on a Saginaw conversion...

If he can crank them out for $150 bux, he will have a gold mine in no time...

If that's a resonably solid price I want some.

I would be interested in one if it fits with the stock steering setup.

A set of shorty in-frame headers for a Dauntless would be nice too. Probably a good sized market, I know I'd buy a set in a minute.:v6:

What about access to the side valve cover for valve adjustment...do you have to take the header off?

Keep in mind guys BIGGER is not better with an Fhead. I would limit exhaust size to 2" max with the header. But yup $150 is a Great price!

The F-Head just can't spin fast enough to worry too much about top end HP. It would be better to tune the exhaust for more torque...small tubes are better. It would be interesting to see somone do some dyno testing with different size tubes...it might produce more torque with somthing slightly smaller than 2".

IIRC the length of the tubes also affects the tuning. Ideally, you'd like the (relative) vacuum behind each pressure wave of exhaust to arrive at the collector at the right time to draw the exhaust from the next exhaust cycle out. The longer the tubes, the lower the RPM that the headers are tuned to.

The headers are tuned for torque, and I wanted to help disapate some of the heat from the head. I'll be running 1 3/4 exhaust out to the back, probably. This is actually something we got started on last year, I moved out of state so we held off on it, and I'm getting back on the ball now to get them done. Tubes were already bent and cut, ready to be welded, just need to get the cj back for a final fit. Hopefully that will be sometime this month. There seems to be enough interest, and yep, I know that depends on the final price and pics, to make it worth his while to set up a jig for it. I'll post pics and price when I get done with mine
As far as the shorties for the V6, he would probably be interested in that too, but would need someone to take their jeep over to him for him to look at. If anyone in the Sevierville, TN area with a V6 that is interested, pm me and I'll give you his number. Or heck, no reason I can't just post it here. His name is James, Sevier Perfomance, 865-654-1823.
