New found respect for Jeep's!!!!

Ok I decided to take the 65' for a spin in the construction area near my house since the workers weren't there and put the Jeep in 4wd low range but didn't lock in the front hub's (yet) and just sat back and steered I didn't touch the gas at all and IDLE'D! for about 20 minutes going up 45 degree hills and over the bulldozer tracks through the spillway......and ....got.....stuck!
Almost axle deep in CRUD,MUD, NASTY SLIMEY CRAP!
O...K...! knee deep I waded to the front hubs and managed to get both front hubs locked in, then sat in the seat like Chuck Norris in that movie whear he drives his blower powered 4x4 out of the grave!
Well I started the engine and had it idling at 900 rpm's I forgot to push in the clutch cause I was soo ****ed at getting muddy, and......gueswhat?
This 41 year old pile of steel chugged right through the mud hole like it wasn't there IN IDLE!!!!
I did not see a smiley for it but.. I bow and worship the Jeep!
The Jeep gods are VERY gifted indeed!

One of the major drawbacks of owning an old jeep is how hard it is to get stuck in 2wd before you get to the fun of 'locking in the hubs'

I tend to put the hubs in long before I get stuck, so when I finally do end up in slop, I'm REALLY stuck!R) R)

 

I actually thought I'd be waiting till it dried out then have to shovel my way out, I mean it looked hopeless! I don't know if I grabbed some buried rocks or what but she just "Strutted" right out no problem I also got my first mud facial peeking out the door to see if I was moving when the front tire started spinning a bit...Kinda salty gritty taste BUT FUN!!

I can't wait for the snow!!:drool: :driving:

 

Thats great to hear that you found out how much fun it is to play in these old jeeps.

Now let me stand on a soapbox for a minute

Just from now on try not to do it in areas like that (construction sites/ private property) Its stuff like that makes people think that the 4 wheeling community is just a bunch of wreckless law avoiding people. Because now when those guys came into work the next day there are vehicle tracks across the dirt they've been busy grading. Now depending on how far along they were it could cost them some time to go back and have to smooth the dirt back out. Granted I wasnt there to see if they've just broken dirt but regardless. Also you stand a chance of recieving a ticket or being fined for tresspasing. Not trying to be a jerk but just asking you to be more carefull from now on where you go fourwheeling.

Naw it's not a problem cause there is soo many different tracks around they couldn't possibly know the difference, besides there is a bull dozer thats been stuck for 4 months now up to the top of it's tracks 10 feet from whear I went throughR) R) I think I'll ask the contractor if he wants me to pull it out.R)
I also forgot to mention the job foreman said as long as the ground isn't graded or seeded with grass he don't care since all they have been doing is moving the stuff from one place to another whenever the engineers get another bright idea.
