Well you will tell I am a newbie from this post. Just picked up and old CJ5. The brake pedal armature goes through the floor pan without any type of sleeve or bushing and essentialy rubs against the hole in the pan. This off course makes for a nice noise unless you shift the pedal/arm over while you apply the brake. Where can I buy a sleeve/bushing or is this something I need to make? I do see a round "sleeve" of foam below the pan which I assume should be wedged in the hole? Thanks gilly.....

There is no sleeve around the pedal shaft going through the floor. The problem with your Jeep is the pivot shaft that the clutch & brake pedals ride on is worn, as is the frame bracket that holds the whole assembly in place.

In order to fix the problem, order up a replacement pivot shaft from your favorite Jeep parts house, and also a new mounting bracket from an M38-A1 because they had a replaceable bronze sleeve in theirs. These two items will take up all the slop in the pedals and you won't have to listen to all that scraping anymore!

Also, if your body tub is rusted, bent, and sagging (like mine) it could throw the alignment of the holes out. This would cause the scraping in certain situations, or all the time.

www.4wd.com has them, or they had them.
Look in the vintage Jeep section.
    Maybe Krages or Walcks also.
