I think I found my fuse-blowing problem...

Saturday I started checking all of the wiring on the coil circuit because I kept blowing the 30A fuse. I did find a suspicious area. A soldered splice in the wire from the ballast to the coil. This splice seemed to have only two wraps of electrical tape, and it was loose. This joint was up against the horn. I pulled off the tape, the joint looked like some of the strands had been burnt. I tried a pic, it's blurry...

I cut out the splice, soldered it again, put on two layers of heat shrink and a good wrap of elec. tape. Then secured the wire away from everything.

I let the engine idle for an hour, then took it around the block... it seems OK.... :?
Maybe this week I'll risk taking it for a drive over to Grand CJ's place...
or better yet, have him come to my house then follow me.
I tried fine tuning my fuel/air mix on Saturday, and my little tach/dwell unit crapped out  I'll see if Grand CJ will come over with his...

Man that is a nasty one, I agree with Jeff I think you got it. Getting to drive your Jeep again after a prolonged time is like getting in line to ride a roller coaster...exciting!:driving:

dohc281 It is what it is.

Great news. Its always nice to figure the problem out and it turns out to be something minor.
